SOCCER.COM wanted to a 30-second video for paid advertising on YouTube. They had a printed catalogue with a set design full with fonts, colors and pictures, and told me they wanted the video to have a similar feel to it.

I thought it’d be a good idea to completely take the catalogue and animate it, so that’s what I did. They liked it so much they asked for other versions to promote on the other social networks and live TV. Nice.

How did I make the animation?

To create the animation, I used After Effects to generate a large 4320 x 4320px composition as the main canvas. Within this composition, I imported 16 smaller 1080 x 1080 compositions and arranged them in a structured 4 x 4 grid (so many numbers). Each of these smaller compositions featured minimal animation, ensuring that the imagery remained dynamic and visually engaging.

In the primary composition, I incorporated a carefully drawn path and applied animation to a stroke, creating an elegant and seamless transition from one smaller composition to another. This technique facilitated a smooth flow between the different elements, enhancing the overall visual appeal.

Finally I imported that composition into a final composition measuring 1080×1080 pixels and animated it’s position for that screen-to-screen sliding effect.
