I always try and be the nicest person possible on these chats to humans for companies, because I always imagine people getting angry at the company, and them receiving that anger. It must be hard, so in any way I can make their day better, I try and do.

Same for when I got my car towed… for the 3rd time in Barcelona. I went there and rather than being pissed off at the person that runs the till, I asked her: “How are you doing? It must be hard to work in a place where everybody that interacts with you is angry because it costs them a few hundred €s to pick up their vehicle”, and she was really thankful and happy I asked. And, funnily enough, that negative experience of having to spend 250€ because I parked like an idiot was transformed into a positive one, where I made somebody smile.
